The scope of the Stage 1 upgrading works is to transform the existing of Shek Wu Hui Sewage Treatment Works (SWHSTW) into Shek Wu Hui Effluent Polishing Plant (SWHEPP) which increases treatment capacity from 105,000m3/day to 140,000m3/day almost within the existing footprint and at the same time upgrade the sewage treatment level from secondary to tertiary in order to meet very stringent discharge standards. The construction works are packaged under Civil Contract No. DC/2018/06, DC/2018/07 and E&M Contract No. DE/2018/03 & DE/2018/04.
