Environmental Impact Assessment

North East New Territories New Development Areas - Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) (EIA Application No. EIA-213/2013) covers the assessment of the environmental impacts arising from construction and operation of the SWHEPP Improvement Scheme.

The EIA Report was exhibited for public inspection from 5 July 2013 to 3 August 2013, and was approved with conditions on 18 October 2013. The approved EIA Report is available at the EIAO website for review.

The proposed SWHEPP Improvement Scheme is in compliance with the requirements of Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance (EIAO). The EIA Report covered a number of environmental impact assessments and suggested to:

  • Cover facilities with odour emissions and provide odour control installations
  • Restrict the sound power of electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Enhance effluent quality
  • Implement the environmental monitoring and audit programme
