Main Works Stage 2 Progress and Timetable

Contract No. DC/2025/10, covering the Shek Wu Hui Effluent Polishing Plant Stage 2 – Civil Works, was officially signed by the Drainage Services Department (DSD) and the contractor on July 29, 2026.

Core Project Details

  • Contractor: Build King – Tsun Yip Joint Venture (consisting of Build King Civil Engineering Limited and Tsun Yip Civil Construction Company Limited).
  • Start Date: June 26, 2026.
  • Duration: 58 months, with an anticipated completion date of April 1, 2031.
  • Supervising Consultant: AECOM Asia Company Limited.

Scope of Civil Works

  • Demolition Works: Part of the existing secondary treatment facilities will be dismantled to make room for newer technologies.
  • Sewage Infrastructure: Structural construction of brand-new civil units required for the upgraded treatment processes.
  • Facility Buildings: Construction of a new administration building, a dedicated workshop, and a storage building.
  • Infrastructural Works: Broad ancillary installations including localized drainage, network sewerage, waterworks pipelines, roadworks, and extensive landscaping.

Purpose & Impact

This specific stage of civil works lays the structural foundation needed to transition the facility into a high-capacity, tertiary-level effluent polishing plant. It supports the massive residential and commercial growth stemming from the Northern Metropolis development (specifically Kwu Tung North and Fanling North), enabling the plant to handle up to its final target capacity of 190,000 m³ per day.
