After completion of SWHEPP expansion Works, its treatment capacity will be increased to 190,000 m3/day. The combined scheme of expansion works will be implemented in phases, as follows:

• Advance Works: Commenced in mid 2015 and designed to increase the treatment capacity by 12,000 m3/day.
• Main Work Stage 1: Commenced on 11 September 2019 to increase the treatment capacity by 35,000m3/day.
• Remaining Stages: To provide additional capacity of 50,000m3/day.

To cope with other large scale development in the future, the need for new effluent polishing plants will be investigated by other Department.
