SWHEPP Improvement has incorporated different energy efficient measures to enhance energy efficiency and recovery of the plant.

• Good hydraulic design in layout arrangement to minimize pumping then energy use
• Renewable energy recovery from biogas (i.e. by-product in sludge treatment) to generate electricity for SWHEPP daily operation
• Green building design such as utilization of natural lighting and ventilation
• Use of solar energy for power generation
